FRAMING LUMBER
Spruce-Pine-Fir
SPF is one of the most common, cost effective and consistently reliable types of framing lumber in our region. It is strong, lightweight and easy to work. It holds nails well and has small knots. It is white to pale yellow in color. We stock a wide range of sizes up to 24' in length.
Select Structural Southern Yellow Pine
SYP is stiffer and stronger than standard SPF lumber, allowing it to span longer distances. For example from the span tables in the International Residential Code, a 2x10 joist (16" oc) of SPF spans 15'5", where as Southern Pine SS spans 17'0". This can make a significant difference if you are building a 16' addition. Refer to our span chart for more information.
Machine Stress Rated Lumber
MSR has been evaluated for strength and stiffness properties by a machine at the lumber mill. MSR lumber is consistently stronger, stiffer and more reliable than conventional lumber and often used to build Roof Trusses. We stock MSR in 2x4 and 2x6 sizes in lengths from 10’ to 16’. Since MSR is 40-60% stronger than conventional SPF framing, it can often be used as post in walls instead of LVL or Glulam Posts.
Treated Southern Yellow Pine #2 and Better
Treated Yellow Pine Is long lasting lumber that can tolerate outdoor conditions. Pressure treated with chemical preservatives, this lumber can withstand conditions that would rot conventional framing lumber. We carry a wide selection of treated pine sizes.
Fire Retardant Structural Yellow Pine (SYP)
Specifically treated to withstand fire, this lumber is most commonly used for commercial building.
BLUWOOD
Bluwood is the name given a family of wood frame building components with a proprietary factory applied, two-part coating technology. Bluwood wood framing components provide the building industry with a new level of defense for protection of above ground, covered structure wood framing components against the costly, damaging effects of mold fungus growth; rot fungi and wood ingesting insects; as well as limiting moisture absorption, a key necessary element for mold growth.
FRAMING PLYWOOD, SHEATHING, AND UNDERLAYMENT
OSB
OSB
is an economical, engineered sheathing product that performs in many instances better than the strongest grades of plywood. OSB is also available in a larger variety of panel sizes for quicker installation on 9’ and 10’ walls.
AdvanTech® OSB
This extremely popular engineered OSB underlayment product from Huber has superior moisture resistance, strength, and stiffness compared to regular OSB or plywood and is backed by a 50-year limited warranty.
CDX Sheathing Pine and Fir
CDX plywood is used for roof and wall sheathing and other structural applications. We only stock 4/5-ply plywood products because of its superior performance compared to cheaper 3-ply varieties found in home centers.
Sturdi-I-Floor
Underlayment
Plywood or OSB used specifically for sub-floor applications is available in Fir, Pine, and OSB and with Square-Edges or Tongue & Groove.
Fire Retardant Plywood
Specifically treated to withstand fire, this lumber is most commonly used for commercial building.
Dow® Structural Insulated Sheathing
The innovative STYROFOAM SIS™ Brand Structural Insulated Sheathing from Dow combines three functions in one product: Structural lateral bracing and transverse loads, significant insulation performance, and a water-resistent barrier. As a first-of-its-kind product, STYROFOAM SIS™ Brand Structural Insulated Sheathing is the result of research, development and rigorous testing. Professional builders have used it with much success. Ready to make a difference without a big change?
Plytanium® Sheathing from GP
For outstanding sheathing performance for walls and roofs, Georgia-Pacific Plytanium® Sheathing is ideal for residential and light commercial construction. It adds proven performance and durability to new homes, room additions and renovations.
ZipSystem®
ZipSystem by Huber is a structural panel system with a built-in moisture resistent barrier that eliminates the need for felt paper and H-clips on roofs and housewrap on walls. Simply tape the seams, and you have a complete structural and water resistive barrier all-in-one.
TallWall®
TallWall is the ideal panel for wall sheathing. Whether you build 8’, 9’, or 10’ walls, Norbond has the right size-sheathing panel for you. Using TallWall panels to overlap the floor joists will increase your wall strength by up to 38%.
METAL FRAMING
Dietrich Metal Framing
Dietrich Metal Framing is a leading manufacturer of light-gauge framing and finishing products for commercial and residential construction. Dietrich offers the largest selection of cold-formed steel framing and drywall finishing products including drywall and structural metal stud framing, contour flexible track framing, floor joists, metal lath, fire-rated assemblies including h-stud for area separation and CT studs for shaft walls.
Hardy Frames Inc.
Hardy Frames, Inc. manufactures light gauge steel Panels and Brace Frames that are installed flush into wall framing for the purpose of resisting shear and wind loads. The products are structural elements that are located strategically for the intended purpose. The product may be used to replace field built plywood or OSB shear walls, but is most commonly used in narrow wall sections that would otherwise require structural steel columns or moment frames.
